Our community faces a growing crisis of homelessness. A roof and four walls to sleep within is increasingly out of reach of those earning minimum wage. Families recovering from crisis often end up on the street, living out of their cars or sending children to a relative's home until their parents can get back on their feet. Join our work to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring by helping us with one of these six service projects!
DENTON PROJECTS: All Denton project volunteers will meet at United Way of Denton County at 9:00am and then travel to their service locations (1314 Teasley Lane, Denton, TX 76201)
- Flower Boxes for Habitat for Humanity of Denton County: Build and Paint Flower Boxes for Denton County families moving into Habitat for Humanity Homes! Each team will build and paint two boxes. If you have a drill, PLEASE BRING IT! (20 teams of 4-5 people)
- Brush with Kindness for Habitat for Humanity of Denton County: Do some light 'fix-up' work and beautification for local Habitat for Humanity Homes just two minutes down the road from United Way of Denton County! (2 teams of 8-10 people)
- Freshen up the facilities at Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County: Prepare play therapy toys and classrooms for kids at Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County's Denton therapy facility (3 teams of 4-5 people)
- Supplies for Monsignor King Outreach Center: Can't make it to any of these service projects? Drop off important supplies that help people experiencing homelessness at United Way of Denton County throughout the month of September! [WHAT TO BRING]
LEWISVILLE PROJECTS: All Lewisville project volunteers will meet at the Kyle's Place Shelter at 9am (1960 Archer Way, Lewisville, TX 75077)
- Beautification and Handiwork for Journey to Dream: Perform painting, light carpentry and beautification at Kyle's Place, Journey to Dream's new shelter for unaccompanied homeless youth (2 teams of 8-12 people)
- Painting for Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County: Give a facelift to Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County's Lewisville therapy facility across the street from Kyle's Place (2 teams of 4-5 people)
