Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... Whole health encompasses the mind, the body and the spirit.  Good mental health is foundational to achieving optimal wellness.  As the World Health Organization states, “There is no health without mental health.” 

My favorite song to dance to is ... I love any song that has a beat which makes you want to get up and dance.  I particularly like Latin rhythms.  It is nearly impossible for me to sit still.

When I think about dancing at UNITED Tribute, I'm most excited about... Having fun dancing with new friends and supporting a great cause.

I LIVE UNITED because ... United Way of Denton County is a community leader for collaborative engagement. Facilitating collaboration is important because when we work together, we can make the greatest impact.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... My father was a psychotherapist here in Texas. He watched as governmental support dwindled for mental health and more at-risk patients were shuffled off to the streets when their families couldn't care for them. I believe Texas is in desperate need for mental health support resources and to destigmatize concerns over talking about our mental health needs
 

My favorite song to dance to is ... Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight

When I think about dancing at UNITED Tribute, I'm most excited about... Getting together with a great group of folks for a great cause!

I LIVE UNITED because ... I feel one should always leave a place better than they found it. As I look back in life, I want to be sure that I did all I could to build up Denton and share this community with anyone willing to listen. Haha!

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... Well - If I could choose all of the options I would. But serving veterans is something I am super passionate about. My husband was deployed in the Army, so it hits close to home. We need to help our veterans. They dedicated their lives to serve our county and the people here, and the least we can do is guide and serve them.

My favorite song to dance to is ... Boogie Shoes(KC & The Sunshine Band), or We like to Party (Vengaboys)

When I think about dancing at UNITED Tribute, I'm most excited about... Raising so much money that United Way is overwhelmed. Kidding! I just hope I don't trip!

I LIVE UNITED because ... I have the power to change and better my community. No donation or service is too small - every inch, mile, and step is a step in the right direction to bettering our community.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... of the impact taking charge of your mental health can have. Struggling with mental health has become a sort of stigma nowadays. That's why there is significance in offering resources and information that bring light to the importance of a healthy mind.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... I have served the homeless for many years.  A warm meal and safe place to stay can do wonders for stability and giving a person a feeling of comfort and safety.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... As an Afghan War veteran I know service doesn't end when the uniform comes off and we owe our veterans the support they have show us.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... I dedicate it to all of the initiatives, but I think children and families are the starting point for the other ones. Children are too young to fend for themselves. Providing them with the resources and the opportunity to have a happy, healthy childhood will significantly impact their physical, mental and emotional growth.

When I think about dancing at UNITED Tribute, I'm most excited about... Being able to raise money through one of my passions, dance.

I LIVE UNITED because ... I want to contribute in making Denton a better place for those who are yet to come. Community is not one person, it's all of us working together and helping one another. Real wealth is measured by how many people you helped and how many lives you changed.

Why is the initiative you chose important to you? ... Strong and stable families contribute to the development of stronger communities. When children and families receive support, it can have a positive ripple effect on the neighborhood and society as a whole.

When I think about dancing at UNITED Tribute, I'm most excited about... I am most excited about raising money for our community. Knowing that my performance is contributing to this amazing cause brings me great excitement and fulfillment!

I LIVE UNITED because ... My daily efforts are dedicated to establishing a safe, fun, and positive atmosphere for my students. I aspire to extend the same dedication to The United Way of Denton County initiatives, which offer a wide range of opportunities to contribute to the community.
