Women UNITED's literacy initiative focuses on recruiting and placing community volunteers in schools all across Denton County to promote literacy.
Elementary Schools
Become a Reading Buddy for students at local Title 1 schools. There are 26 elementary schools to choose from so you are guaranteed to find one conveniently located to your home or work.
Step One
NOTE: Registration for reading volunteers in local ISD's has closed for the 2024/2025 school year. After April 1, 2025, new registrations will be for the 2025/2026 school year.
If you are interested in volunteering as a Reading Buddy in a summer reading program, complete the registration process and indicate "ACE Summer Volunteer" somewhere in your application.
This program is in partnership with Communities In Schools North Texas.
