Denton County boasts a variety of Veteran Resources to assist members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, and their families.

DENTON COUNTY VETERANS COALITION

The Denton County Veterans Coalition serves as an advocate for Veterans and their families and facilitates collaboration among Veterans organizations and community resources to resolve individual and collective Veterans issues. 

 

VETERAN COMMUNITY NAVIGATORS

The Veteran Community Navigator program in Denton County connects Veterans and their families to community resources to meet critical and preventative needs. Resources include financial and housing assistance, health and mental health services, and more.

VETERAN ASSISTANCE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) determines if a Veteran qualifies for Veteran Assistance Supportive Housing (VASH) and will refer to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) or to another Public Housing Authority for issuance of a VASH Voucher.

RECOVERY RESOURCE COUNCIL

Recovery Resource Council provides services to over 65,000 youth and adults annually across 20 North Texas counties. Services include mental health counseling, recovery treatment and support services, prevention programming, and housing assistance. Services are provided free of charge, in-person and online via telehealth.

MILITARY VETERAN PEER NETWORK

The Military Veteran Peer Network is a network of Texas Veterans Commission-Certified Peer Service Coordinators and their peer volunteers located across Texas to support any service member, Veteran, or family member. 

VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE

The Denton County Veterans Service Office (VSO) has Benefits Officers who assist Veterans of the Armed Forces and their dependents file claims and obtain their benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) after service to our country.

THE ART ROOM

A free therapeutic and instructional art program for Veterans called Arts for Veterans. Each session will have an artist volunteer, a mental health volunteer, and a Military Veteran Peer volunteer to support Veterans in their creative process. 

GOODWILL VETWORTHY

VetWorthy provides military Veterans and their families with job development and skills training support. In addition, Veterans are connected to other necessary community resources such as mental health counseling, housing assistance, food assistance and legal aid. The program is open to any Veteran under any discharge status in Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Hood, Wise, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, and Denton Counties.

TEXAS VETERANS COMMISSION

The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) will provide quality service through eight program areas: Claims Department, Veterans Education Services, Veterans Employment Services, Fund for Veterans’ Assistance, Veterans Mental Health Program, Women Veterans Program, Health Care Advocacy, and the Veteran Entrepreneur Program.
