Our 9th Annual UNITED Tribute was held May 8, 2021!
After a four-month delay due to the pandemic, friends and supporters of United Way of Denton County gathered in socially distanced fashion at the grand ballroom at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center for the annual UNITED Tribute Gala. The sold-out celebration recognized several organizations and individuals for their dedication to Denton County during the difficult year of 2020, and two community dancers were crowned Champions of “Dancing with Our Stars.”

2020 Dr. Bettye Myers Humanitarian Awardees
United Way of Denton County recently announced that the 2020 Dr. Bettye Myers Humanitarian Award will recognize the impact of two prominent figures in the fight against homelessness in Denton County – former Denton city Mayor Chris Watts and Denton County Judge Andy Eads.
As the nation and the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout, the leadership and dedication of the Honorable Andy Eads limited the devastation across Denton County by infusing federal dollars to buoy businesses, nonprofits, and residents....The success and effectiveness of the United Way of Denton County COVID-19 Eviction Prevention program is due in large part to the framework created under the leadership of former Denton Mayor Chris Watts.
