DENTON COUNTY WINTER STORM INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATES

CARROLLTON:

Newman Smith High School (2335 N. Josey Lane) will be open through Friday, February 19th, as a warming center. Masks are required, COVID-19 measures in place. Supplies of cots withing warming station are limited. The City encourages those accessing the warming center bring their own blankets, pillows, toiletries, any necessary medication, and snacks. Details HERE.

 

CORINTH:

Lake Shore Baptist Church (276 E. Hundley Drive) Overnight Shelter

 

FLOWER MOUND:

Warming centers will be set up on an as needed basis for Flower Mound residents. Residents may request access to a warming center if they have been without power for two or more hours, and do not have an alternate heat or power source (such as a fireplace or generator) or have medical equipment that requires electricity. If access is needed to a warming center, call 972-539-0525.

 

LEWISVILLE:

Salvation Army of Lewisville (206 W Main St, Lewisville, TX 75057) will be open 24 hours with limited overnight sheltering capacity starting the night of February 9th, 2021 until further notice. 

Music City Mall Lewisville (2401 S. Stemmons Fwy) is available as a warming station 24/7 until at least Thursday. The mall is on multiple power circuits and has not experience a complete outage. The only entrance is #3 on the lower level between Macy's and Zion Market. City crews are treating the driveways, parking lot, and sidewalks near that entrance. Stores inside the mall are closed. People should bring their own snacks, water, blankets, and other necessities. No weapons. Face coverings are required. Music City Mall is pet-friendly. Pets must be on a leash or in a kennel at all times when inside the mall. There will be an outdoor space for pets to relieve themselves. Owners expected to clean up after their pet.

Lakeland Baptist Church (397 S. Stemmons Fwy) Overnight shelter

 

THE COLONY: 

Horizons Church ( 6600 Paige Road, The Colony). A note from the Pastor: Our church building has power and space so we are opening up our doors as an emergency shelter. We are working with the city, on this as well. We have a small kitchen and we are working to get food for any who might need it. We do not have showers, but we have space and we are warm. Our address is 6600 Paige Road on the first floor of the Paige Office Plaza building on the corner of Paige and Kisor. Our phone number is 214.705.3090 if you have any questions! Please come by if you need a warm safe place to shelter! feel free to bring sleeping bags, pillows, etc to be more comfortable. We'll be playing family movies or shows to pass the time.

DENTON:

See flyer below for resources for warming stations and shelter. Update - The Junction's Our Daily Bread location is closed until Friday.

Volunteers needed at The Junction's Monsignor King Outreach Center shelter location for the following shifts:

  • Morning Station - 7:30 am to 10 AM
  • Floating Volunteer - 9 AM to 1 PM, 1 to 4 PM or 5 to 9 PM
  • Kitchen Station - 11:30 AM to 2 PM or 5 to 9 PM
  • Hygiene Station - 5 to 9 PM
