Digital Literacy Initiative

Being able to find, evaluate, and communicate information using a digital media platform is called Digital Literacy. Digital literacy gives individuals freedom - to learn, to communicate, to access essential services.

446,000 Texans fear the internet is too complicated

290,000 Texans are not comfortable using a computer

310,000 Texans are concerned about fraud or identity theft

Digital literacy is essential in today's world where technology plays a critical role in education, employment, and health.

But, many in our community, especially our ALICE households, are not comfortable in this digital age, whether from fear, overwhelm, or lack of access to broadband service.

To help close this digital divide, we are partnering with Connected Nation to host free bilingual Digital Literacy classes.

These classes will target seniors, single moms, Spanish-speakers, and other ALICE households so they can feel comfortable online when they need to:

This is a new initiative of the Denton County Workforce Success Leadership Team to boost the economic mobility of our neighbors.
